A defective component or equipment always leads to major troubles and losses. This can be caused by possible errors in the design, material, manufacturing, maintenance, assembly and even an operational error.

Failure analysis is a painstaking investigation, using a logic and well-devised method which uses a number of laboratory resources ranging from a Stereoscopy microscope to an Electronic scanning microscope, where the actual reason that led to the failure is tracked.
